Dear Colleagues,

It is our pleasure to invite you to the 19th International IATEFL POLAND Conference held at Wyższa Szkoła Gospodarki in Bydgoszcz on 17th – 19th September 2010.

The main theme of the conference will revolve around interdisciplinary and intercultural aspects of teaching English and other foreign languages as well as teaching other subjects in a foreign language.

Let’s meet and share 'our lessons learned'.

The conference also aims to address, but is not only limited to, the following issues:

• Multilingual or bilingual education – mobility and understanding between nations versus challenges for teachers.
• CLIL – Content and Language Integrated Learning
• Lifelong learning – a true dialogue between society and educators?
• Blended learning – still a buzzword, but how to overcome technology hurdles and human nature?
• Exams and examination systems – does the world need them?
• Languages for specific purposes – from the classroom to the workplace.
• Teacher training and qualifications – the survival of the fittest?
• Special needs students – understanding teaching a foreign language to students with learning disabilities.
• Alternative assessment – do we need to bother?
• The learner – the rise of a new generation.

The official languages of the conference are English and Polish.

We would like to encourage a wide range of teaching staff to participate in the conference and grasp this opportunity to:

• meet face-to-face the authors of textbooks,
• listen to renowned specialists in foreign language teaching methodology,
• discover new trends in teaching,
• take part in workshops,
• share teaching experience,
• learn fresh ideas from fellow teachers,
• receive free textbooks and unique teaching materials,
• establish networks with schools from Poland and abroad,
• update calendars for teacher training sessions in Poland and Europe.
