at the FOREIGN LANGUAGE DEPARTMENT

BUILDING H-4

for a workshop entitled

Successful Strategies for Teaching Specialist Vocabulary
Speaker: Magdalena Kondro

The workshop aims to provide answers to the following important questions:

# How can we help students to learn and revise specialist vocabulary especially when the words and phrases often only appear once in the course book?

# How can we personalise academic and technical vocabulary?

# How can we spice up classes with speaking tasks that include specialist vocabulary?

This workshop, which is aimed at all teachers of CLIL, Academic English, Technical English and other types of ESP from junior high school upwards, will offer the opportunity to take an active part in a series of vocabulary-based exercises, all of which have proved themselves in various types of courses.

Magdalena Kondro teaches English at the Foreign Language Department of Wrocław University of Science and Technology. She has extensive experience in teaching English at all levels and for all age groups in schools, companies and even for the military. She is also a freelance author for Macmillan. Her recent professional interests concern questions of classroom management focusing on a variety of solutions to simplify teachers’ lives. She has also run a number of teacher-training workshops for IATEFL including a pre-conference event at the National IATEFL Poland Conference in Kraków in 2015.

The workshop is free for IATEFL members. For non-IATEFL members the registration fee is 40 PLN, which can be paid on the day. The fee can also be paid in advance directly to IATEFL Poland’s bank account (cf. details below).
