- get your actors to perform at the FRONT
of the stage
- do lots of voice exercises with bits of
the text to free voices, enhance confidence, encourage actors
to speak out LOUDLY and CLEARLY
- keep movements and gestures SIMPLE and PURPOSEFUL;
every movement should have a clear reason
- get the learners to create SIMPLE props
and items of scenery at little or no cost
- use music, live if possible: this will create
atmosphere more easily and even better than visual aids
- make your play fit into your normal classwork,
so that working on it will enhance th learning programme
- involve evevryone who wants to take part
in a way that suits their ability and personality
|
- let the actors congregate at the back of
the stage or "block" each other
- rely on microphone, which discourage development
of the voice, may be difficult to use properly and may constrain
movements
- let the actors sway, shuffle, wave their
arms around, etc; STILLNESS is more effective than too much
movement
- spend your own time or/ and a lot of money
on elaborate costumes/ props
- spend hours and hours on rehearsals outside
school hours (or you will exhaust yourself, your actors and
goo will of their parents!)
- encourage the concept of STAR performers,
but encourage team spirit
- LET IT TAKE OVER YOUR WHOLE LIFE!
