Dear
Colleague,
It's our great pleasure to announce that the 7th
National Mini-Drama Festival,
which follows the six previous editions 1996-2002,
will take place in Warsaw, 22nd - 23rd May, 2004.
The Festival is organized by the
Music and Drama Special Interest Group (MAD SIG), a section within
IATEFL Poland, in co-operation with our friends from CODN, Warsaw.Groups
of learners of English are welcome from all over Poland with performances
in English lasting up to 20 minutes. All topics, genres and forms
are accepted, including ready-madeplays and sketches, book adaptations,
musical stories and original scripts. The Festival is non-competitive,
and so, each group - regardless of age and merits - will be rewarded
with a diploma and a surprise gift.
The Festival will have three distinct sections:primary
schools, gimnazjum,secondary.

FESTIVAL
NEWS UP-DATE - 30 performances on two days
No more applications please........we
are totally full!!! :-)
We have groups coming
from as far afield as Wroclaw; Oswieciem; Szczecin; Poznan; Bialystok;
and Nowy Sacz to name but a few as well as more local groups - local
to Warsaw.
Our venue has been re-furbished
and looks very elegant indeed with automated blackout facilities,
computerised screen facility, piano, and a capacity of 160 people.
The stage is small, but adequate for our needs, as young performers
often place themselves at the back of the stage when it's very large.
HOW TO GET TO THE VENUE:
Reminder for those who
are coming to see the Festival. The venue is easy to get to very
central. When coming from the Central Station take any tram (Praga
direction) down Jerozolimskie until you get to Rondo de Gaulla 3
stops only from there turn right along Nowy Swiat towards the large
church in the middle of the large square - that is Plac Trzy Krzyzy....The
CODN building is at the other side of the square - you'll probably
see first the adjoining Chinese snack bar - to the north of the
church.
The Festival will run
till 6pm each day with prizes awarded at the end of each day.
Hopefully, groups will stay for the prize ceremonies.
Everyone is welcome to attend the Festival and see the young talent
on show we have some Shakespearean offerings to whet the appetite,
along with some comedies, fairy tales, and
original works of art.
MAD/SIG members are also invited to assist at the Festival those
willing to help - please
contact me via e-mail.
Good luck to everyone
concerned with the Festival and a big thank-you to those who
have already done so much to help, including our kind sponsors.
For further information
read the details in the Festival Section
of our website.
