Welcome
We are still relatively new region (established in 2006), but since then we held a few successful workshops in the Kolegium Karkonoskie Higher State Professional School venue.
As most of our members belong to Culture in ELT SIG, our main goal is to teach and promote cultural awareness. So far we have organized "A Day with Humour", when our guests (I. Baj & A. Fidzińska, R. Benesevich, and R.Prichard), traced the roots of Welsh, American and Canadian humour respectively; while I. Wrzesień showed us the practical way of using humour on ELT lessons.
"A Scottish and Irish Dances Day" was organized in June 2006, and in March 2007 we celebrated St Patrick's Day with two-day-workshops "Irish Weekend". Our presenters: Misa Cankova and Michael O'Shea focused on the Irish tranditions and culture, Celtic Mythology, Irish immigration and the concept of The Celtic Tiger. We are very pleased that the students of 3rd year of English Department contributed to the workshops with the presentation on Irish contemporary music. The celebration finished with the opening of The First Limerick Competition. The competion won Jarek Osmolak and Magdalena Baczynska, congratulations!
