Effective teaching of mixed ability groups seems to be a Holy Grail in any education system. However, the term suggests that usually there is some division into homogenous and heterogeneous groups. But, is there any group that is not mixed? We all differ. And while working in groups we compensate for each others’ weaknesses. Isn’t it the way it is in everyday situations?

 Let’s think about how differentiated instruction can be adopted not only as a solution to a mixed group dilemma but rather as a fundamental approach that should be used with any class. I hope to share with you a bunch of techniques which will make it easier to cater for different abilities and preferences of our students.
