The importance of outcomes in the learning journey

Summary
What is the difference between outcomes and aims? In this presentation, I’ll explain why working towards an outcome rather than an aim can have a more positive impact on instruction and lesson-planning. After outlining how we might best define desirable outcomes, I’ll then be focusing on outcomes can make learning more purposeful, more student-focused, and ensure better learning through more spaced interleaved practice.
Biodata
Hugh Dellar is the co-founder of the online school and training company www.lexicallab.com. He has co-authored two five-level General English series, Outcomes and Innovations, published by National Geographic Learning, and his first methodology book, Teaching Lexically, came out in 2016. Most recently, he worked on Grammar Nonsense . . . and what to do about it, published by Wayzgoose Press.
