“Let me take you on a music trip” – music journalism in the EFL classroom
Urszula Majdańska-Wachowicz
Summary
In this practical session, I will present some pedagogical implications of my doctoral dissertation on music discourse and journalism (A contrastive genre-based study on the music review). I will demonstrate how I implemented the research findings into my EFL or ESP classroom routine and extra-curricular classes. The first part of the workshop will outline the topic. In the second part, I will share some activities related to music journalism. The participants will be taken on a special trip to explore and create headlines, subheads, blurbs, images, captions, etc. The tasks will integrate language skills and address exam tasks (e.g. for "matura"). The activities are suitable for teachers working at secondary schools or universities. If interested in the topic, be part of this trip.
