„Mówcie po angielsku! Rethinking the Monolingual Approach in ELT

Josianne Block

Summary

This workshop will focus on integrating learners' L1 into the English classroom. We will reflect on the differences between a monolingual classroom model and a multilingual approach, and introduce some innovative translation techniques that give a modern twist to the grammar-translation method. Finally, we will explore how a translanguaging pedagogy could turn the classroom into a safe space that acknowledges learners' full linguistic repertoires.
