Literacy as a Social Justice Issue for Secondary MLs
Denise Furlong
Summary
In this session, we will consider ways that proficiency in literacy may be either a path to “success” or an obstacle that few may overcome. For our secondary multilingual learners, it is imperative that educators forge that path alongside them and work to meet their very unique needs as they overcome obstacles. Resources to support our own learning about literacy acquisition with multilingual learners will be shared at the end of the session.
