Language Teacher Wellbeing – A Positive Psychology Approach

This talk presents a study of a well-functioning institution, examining the systemic and contextual factors that contribute to the flourishing of its teachers. The presentation will begin with background information, followed by a description of the methodology, and will conclude with the results and discussion. The findings highlight several variables that affect teacher wellbeing at the institutional level, including corporate culture, policies, organizational structure, management practices, opportunities for professional development, social life, and access to resources and quality physical working conditions. The positive features supporting language teacher wellbeing at this institution may serve as a model for other language schools.

Biodata

Katarzyna Budzińska holds a PhD in applied linguistics and a Cambridge DELTA. Her primary areas of interest include positive psychology, emotions and study abroad. She is a pioneer researcher of the third positive psychology pillar - positive institutions. Katarzyna co-edited a volume, Positive Psychology in Second and Foreign Language Education.
