Unlocking Speaking: Techniques That Trick the Brain

Monika Ziębakowska

Summary

Many learners know more than they can say. Why? Because speaking is often blocked by stress, fear of mistakes, and overthinking. In this practical session, we will explore how to "trick" the brain using principles of neuroscience: reducing cortisol, building safe habits, and activating speaking through emotion, repetition, and automation. You'll experience classroom-ready activities designed to unlock spontaneous speech, boost fluency, and build confidence. We’ll also look at how neuroplasticity supports long-term progress when speaking becomes part of a daily routine. Leave with tools to help your students speak more—and worry less.
