Medical English Unplugged: Authentic Viewing/ Listening for Tomorrow's Professionals

Anna Podlewska

Summary

In a future-facing world of medicine, English for Specific Purposes teachers must evolve to meet the needs of medical students and professionals communicating in high-stakes environments. This workshop introduces the Medical English Resource Pack — a curated, adaptable set of teaching materials using authentic audio and video content such as TV series, Naked Scientists and Chemistry World podcasts. Participants will explore how to create dynamic, context-rich learning experiences that enhance students’ listening, speaking, and critical thinking skills. Through hands-on tasks, participants will experience lesson activities from a learner’s perspective, and leave with tools they can adapt for their own contexts.
