The Impact of Narrative Psychology on Resilience: A Literary Perspective
Alicja Gałązka
Summary
This talk explores how narrative psychology informs our understanding of resilience through the study of literature, with a focus on Shakespeare. It examines how characters construct meaning in the face of adversity, using narrative strategies such as re-framing and imagined futures. These insights offer valuable tools for English language teaching, where literature becomes a means not only for linguistic development but also for emotional growth. By engaging with complex texts and characters, learners can build narrative competence and resilience, enriching both language skills and personal insight. The talk highlights literature’s unique role in shaping how we cope, adapt, and grow.
