Implementing the “Neuro” in Language Learning: Brain friendly Teaching
Rachel Paling
Summary
As neuroscience, emotional intelligence and neuropsychology continue to enlighten educators on how to enhance learning, and as we cope with post pandemic trauma and the onset of AI, we are all increasingly called to rethink traditional teaching. But how do we “implement the neuro” into the learning? How can key neuro-findings and metacognition shape a new pedagogy that aligns with how the brain functions but respects how every brain is different? This can be achieved by promoting learner autonomy; shifting from teacher-led instruction to learner-centered coaching; reducing cognitive overload; creating emotional connection and transforming language learning from stressful to joyful.
