Using comics in teaching grammar

Garry Malloy, Piotr KosiƄski

Summary

In a follow-up to last year's presentation, the speaker(s) will provide a more in-depth look at the use of comics in English language teaching by focusing on grammar. When learning grammar, students often struggle with lack of context and understanding of actual use of the grammatical structures they are trying to acquire. Those problems can be ameliorated by the use of comics, a resource that is underused and undervalued by teachers. Comics can provide much needed context to grammar problems, spark creativity in language use, and be a source of encouragement for learners.
