Exploring the Potential of Robot Musio in English Language Classroom

Svetlana Maksimovic

Summary

In light of the future-oriented theme “Back from the Future,” this presentation explores how emotionally responsive technology, such as the robot Musio, could influence English language teaching. Musio, an interactive robot developed in South Korea, in use in Japan, can communicate through speech, text, and gestures. Although not yet introduced in Serbian schools, my doctoral research analyzed the potential use of Musio in the local context, focusing on its emotional and educational impact. The study, conducted with students aged 12 to 15, examined their perceptions of robots in education, particularly how such technology might affect motivation, classroom engagement, and development of communicative skills.
