Curiosity Never Kills the Advanced Learner

Marta Rosińska

Summary

Curiosity is the engine of language learning—and fostering it can transform the English classroom into a space of discovery and engagement. This session explores practical ways teachers can ignite and sustain language curiosity in their students, encouraging them to ask questions about words, grammar, meaning, and usage. We’ll examine techniques for turning everyday language encounters into opportunities for exploration, from noticing oddities in idioms to uncovering the stories behind word origins. Participants will experience a range of interactive activities that model how to cultivate inquiry, promote discussion, and build learners’ confidence in engaging with the language beyond the textbook.
