PLAYGROUND - let children learn a foreign language through movement

Anna Gębka-Suska

Summary

In this workshop I will present how the PLAYGROUND package fits into the latest trends in foreign language teaching methodology and explain the rationale behind the individual games that have been created for the interactive floor. The Magic Carpet by Funtronic is perfect for teaching language using the Total Physical Response method. We will see short video clips showing the eagerness children aged 5-10 play the Playground while learning and how enthusiastically they respond to the rich language content of the individual games. Finally, we will discuss how the games presented can be adapted to the language classroom without the use of technology and how they can add spark to your teaching.
