Empowering speaking skills in young learners: Back to the oldschool

Speaking confidence empowers presenters and boosts their credibility in international interactions. It seems worthwhile, then, to invest time to build speaking skills in EFL young learners. In the talk, we share our practices grounded in LX Design and good old storytelling, and present the educational tool we designed which turns the process of honing speaking skills into a full-on adventure.into a full-on adventure.


Dorota Jaworska-Pasterska. Business English trainer with a keen interest in effective communication. Specialises in teaching public speaking and business communication skills, as well as giving pronunciation training. Cooperates with AMU Faculty of English, giving classes on overcoming communication barriers. Organiser of international conferences; author of articles and talks about gesture, irony, figurative language, and bilingualism.

Ewa Tomczak. Senior lecturer at the Faculty of English (Department of Psycholinguistic Studies), Adam Mickiewicz University in PoznaƄ, holding M.A. degrees in English philology and in psychology, as well as a postgraduate degree in managerial psychology. Co-organised international conferences and congresses (EuroSLA22, RaAM Seminar 4, YLMP2014). Authored articles in the field of bilingualism and translation studies, as well as numerous talks.
