EAP: Explicitly Acquiring Practical Skills in the English Classroom – a webinar by Marta Nowak

IATEFL Poland, region Krakow and Marta Nowak, National Geographic Learning

have the pleasure to invite you to the webinar which will take place on Monday, 23rd November, from 20.30 to 21.30

“EAP: Explicitly Acquiring Practical Skills in the English Classroom”

Finish the statement: an independent student who thinks critically…

Critical thinking is a valuable skill not only in academic study, but also in everyday life. Although we often hear that, as teachers, we need to incorporate more activities fostering this skill in the classroom, there seems to be some kind of mystery about what exactly critical thinking involves and how to teach it. In this webinar, we’d like to show you why it’s best to work on critical thinking and study skills in an explicit way, and that it can be done through enjoyable and engaging communicative activities. We’re going to use examples from National Geographic Learning course Pathways for EAP (English for Academic Purposes).

Marta Nowak is an academic teacher at the University of Warsaw and the Open University of the University of Warsaw, where she conducts, among others, Academic Writing classes. She also works at Durham University in Great Britain, where she teaches EAP (English for Academic Purposes) courses. She specializes in teaching writing and academic skills. Marta is also a trainer, coach and examiner of Cambridge and IELTS.

As a graduate of English Studies at AMU, Marta also completed Cambridge CELTA and Delta courses and postgraduate studies in coaching at the Academy of Leon Koźmiński in Warsaw. Marta has been teaching English since 2003. She gained her professional experience not only in Poland but also at universities and language schools in Spain and England where she worked for almost a decade She is interested in neuroscience and intercultural communication.

After the webinar all participants will receive a certificate of participation.
