which will take place on Wednesday, 18th of September 2024, from 20.30 to 21.30 CET.
Summary:
The webinar will highlight the importance of critical thinking in ESP education and its impact on language proficiency and learner autonomy. Several strategies for fostering critical thinking in the ESP classroom will be discussed at the example of Business and Maritime English. These strategies include promoting inquiry-based learning, encouraging active participation and discussion, using authentic materials and real-world contexts, and incorporating problem-solving activities.
The talk will delve into the practical implementation of these strategies, providing examples and tips for ESP educators to effectively integrate critical thinking into their teaching practices. Furthermore, the webinar will explore the role of technology in Empowering ESP Learners to think deeper. It will discuss how digital tools, interactive resources, and online platforms can be utilized to engage learners and provide opportunities for critical thinking development.
During the webinar all participants will be provided with a certificate of participation, which they will be able to download.

Tamari Dolidze
Associate Professor of BSMA/PI
Dr. Tamar Dolidze is an Associate Professor of Batumi State Maritime Academy (Georgia), Faculty of Business and Management. Since 2020 she has been elected as an Associate Professor of the Online University – Pegaso International Group (based in Malta) with a subject: Communications and Language Philosophy. Dr. Tamari Dolidze has also been a guest lecturer/visiting professor (Legal English and Business Communications) at foreign universities, participant of Erasmus Teaching Mobility Program; She is a reviewer of the International Journal of Linguistics, Language and Culture and organizational committee member of Eurasian Multidisciplinary Forum (ESI); A member of the Editorial team of the International Journal of Knowledge and Learning (IJKL) and International Journal of Digital Humanities (Scopus Indexed). She is an Invited /Plenary Speaker at several International Conferences and Webinars.
Natia Vasadze
Associate Professor of BSMA
Dr. Natia Vasadze is an Associate Professor at the Foreign Languages Department of Batumi State Maritime Academy (Georgia). She holds a PhD degree in English Philology from Ivane Javakishvili Tbilisi State University and has over 10 years of experience in the ESP/EFL field. Additionally, she is an Invited Lecturer at the Department of Europeistics of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. Her current research interests include digitalization, AI in EFL education, ESP, academic writing, written communication in English, and analytical reading. Dr. Vasadze has presented at international conferences and webinars, including IATEFL, TESOL Kuwait and has published extensively in academic journals. She has also authored and edited numerous articles. Furthermore, she has attended a number of methodological training sessions and workshops throughout her career.
