Dear Colleague,
We invite all English teachers to

2nd June 2017
Venue: Akademia Techniczno-Humanistyczna, budynek L, ul. Willowa 2,  Bielsko-Biała
14.00- 15.30 New Tools In Your Teaching Kit
Conducted by: Marta Bujakowska
Length: 90 minutes
We often find it discouraging when our teenage learners are reluctant to use the English structures we taught or they use them incorrectly. The reason is that they usually don’t have enough practice. I want to present some activities which every teacher should have in their teacher’s “tool kit”. All of them come from my experience with teenagers in my long years of working with both monolingual and multilingual groups in Poland and abroad. They are either my own creations or adaptations of some other teachers’ ideas; sometimes I even find it difficult to acknowledge their sources. The workshop will be interactive and hopefully some of the participants will be willing to share their experience and ideas.

Marta Bujakowska is a freelance teacher and teacher trainer from Poland with strong intercultural focus. She holds TEFLA Certificate from International House, studied English at Silesian University in Poland and obtained her MA in Teaching degree from SIT in Vermont, USA. In her career she has taught all ages and levels. Nowadays she works with teachers, teenagers and adult learners of English. Marta has been with IATEFL POLAND since 1994. At present she holds a position of Liaison Officer who starts up and maintains good relations with IATEFL partner associations. She believes that teachers should feel their self-development is insatiable.

15.50 Culture Material Design and Development
Conducted by: Roman Ociepa
Length: 90 minutes
Audience: teachers interested in culture of English-speaking countries, teachers interested in material design. In this practical, hands-on session we will investigate all stages of designing and producing a book devoted to the culture, history and geography of an English-speaking country; from forming ideas to the finished product. We will analyse the role of the author in the publishing process with special emphasis on publishers’ expectations.

Roman Ociepa is a freelance English teacher and author of ELT materials. He has a BA in TEFL (1995) and MA in English (1999) from the Jagiellonian University, Poland. He authored a number of English textbooks including Angielskie wyrazy kłopotliwe, United Kingdom at a Glance, Let’s Visit Ireland, Let’s Visit the United States, Let’s Visit Poland, Polonsky Writing for Matura and Polonsky Speaking for Matura. At IATEFL Poland, Roman is the representative for the newly-formed Podbeskidzie Region and his aim is to integrate and co-operate with English teachers in this area.
