Dear Colleagues,
IATEFL Poland, Region Wrocław and the Teacher Training SIG
have the pleasure of inviting you to a series of workshops organized in our region
which will take place on 26th May from 10:00 to 13:30
BUILDING H-4, room 112 A
ul. Wybrzeże Wyspiańskiego 8, 50-370 Wrocław
Speaker: Maria Małgorzata Cyrankowska
Title: Life changing stories
Stories are memorable because they are emotional, meaningful and engaging. They have been with us since early childhood motivating, encouraging and inspiring us. During the talk I will present some of the stories I use with my students to teach them English but also to help them grow, be happier and lead a more fulfilling life. Storytelling is a powerful tool to connect, teach and entertain. It would be a waste not to use it in the classroom.
Title: Helping students define their identity
As English teachers, we have a wonderful opportunity to help our students make sense of their condition, education and life. To start with, they need to know themselves, learn what drives them, what talents they have and focus on their strengths and accept weaknesses. They need to define their identity and consequently take responsibility and be in charge of their lives. I believe that every student can succeed, they just need the right knowledge and tools to do that. So first “know thyself”. What I think they expect from us, teachers, are inspiration, encouragement, and care for their wellbeing, resilience, and happiness.
