by Anna Gałucka
Categories: Wrocław Region.

The regional stage of the Public Speaking Contest in Wrocław was held at Liceum Ogólnokształcące nr VII im. Krzysztofa Kamila Baczyńskiego, courtesy of the Head of the school.

The competition gathered 21 participants representing  schools from Jelenia Góra, Milicz Miroszów, Mrowiny, Oława, Świebodzice, Zgorzelec and Wrocław. The contestants competed in two age categories : 13-16 and 17-19  years of age.

After a short welcome by the IATEFL Poland representative the competition started.           The speakers presented a great variety of approaches to the topic (Will technology be the future?) and impressed the audience with their expressive, imaginative speeches, intricate rhetorical devices and persuasive appeals. The rivalry was friendly but tough and the tension mounted till the last minute, as the level of competition was very high.

Here are the results:

1. Natalia Jaworska Szkoła Podstawowa , Zgorzelec
2. Aleksandra Urbańczyk – Społeczne Gimnazjum ADASTRA Milicz

Winners (17-19 years of age):

2. Oskar Kitkowski – VII LO Wrocław

Many thanks go to our sponsors: Oxford University Press, Macmillan, Pearson and National Geographic Learning for providing the participants with prizes and gifts.
