Public Speaking Contest Warszawa 2019

by Anna Gałucka
Categories: Warszawa Region.

As time marches on, students will have been taking part in the regional finals of the Public Speaking Contest, in Szczecin, Gdańsk, Kraków, Lublin, and Wrocław, with the winners going onto the National Final in Gdańsk, in September. Only yesterday, as I type this, Warsaw region held its final.

Co-ordinated by Joanna Perkowska-Whiley, with prizes provided by Pearson and MM publications, the event was successful, being held at the XIX Liceum, Zbaraska 1, Warsaw, for the first time. 13 participants from different schools took part, and a distinguished jury included: Professor Jerzy Wełna, (Department of English Studies, University of Warsaw), Dr. Anna Budna, and Mgr Monika Sepołowicz.

The results: (13-16 year olds):

1st place - Oskar Urban,

2nd place - Alicja Mońka,

3rd place - Hanna Grzanka.

(16-19 year-olds):

1st place - Piotr Małecki,

2nd place - Zofia Załęska,

3rd place - Filip Walicki.

The theme for the speeches was: ‘Things I wish were taught at school’, which is turning out to be an apt, interesting choice. Come to the National Final at Gdańsk, and be impressed by the high standard of performance. Compare these students with your own.
