Dear IATEFLer,

IATEFL Poland has the pleasure to invite you to the workshop Teaching English Today given by Susan Holden

The workshop will be held in the Foreign Languages Centre of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń on 22nd November 2019 at 3pm (room 11).

Admission is free.
Basic info on the workshop.

Susan Holden has a long and varied experience as a teacher, teacher trainer, editor of a teachers’ magazine (MET), publisher and author of various international readers, methodology titles and textbooks. All these have fed into the content and design of the book “Teaching English Today” , as has the time spent working on projects in, above all,
Central and Eastern Europe, as well as several in Mexico and Brazil. She was originally trained to teach English and drama in the UK education system. She is now based in Scotland where she runs a small publishing and material development company.

English is an international language, used widely in different contexts, not only in the classroom. However, for many teachers, this can present problems as well as opportunities. What are the learners' own objectives? Where and how will they use the language? What about the impact of different cultures and behaviour patterns on effective communication? Are native or non-native speakers of English the best teachers, or does this depend on other factors? In addition, how do exam requirements and school curricula reflect this changing reality?

The session will explore some of these questions, based on the participants' own experiences.

We’ll be happy to see you.

I would be obliged if you could confirm your attendance.

Best regards,

Anna Hućko
Toruń Region Representative
