“I assess, you assess, we assess: sharing self-assessment with students.“
Summary:
This interactive webinar relates a concrete experience of working with students on self-assessing engagement and participation in their elective English course at a graduate level engineering school in France.
We will discuss the advantages and limits of this experience and how we could improve it in the future.
Sinead Namur
Head of the Languages, Culture and Communication Department at Ensta Paris
Sinead Namur is an English teacher. An experienced academic manager and teacher combining a passion for English language and literature, she has 20 years’ experience teaching primary, secondary, university and business students in France.
She has worked in state French schools, been a freelance tutor for international companies and set up her own association for teaching English to children. She was a Senior Teacher at the British Council in Paris. She is also a Cambridge DELTA tutor, a former member of TESOL France Ex-Com and an active IATEFL member.
Her key interests include materials’ and curriculum development.
She has recently collaborated with Bethany Cagnol on a MOOC now available on Coursera, entitled “Promote Your Scientific Results,” which was showcased at the Iatefl conference in Harrogate in April 2023.
She graduated with a degree in French from Queen’s University, Belfast and holds a DESS in Didactics and Language Acquisition from Université Lumière Lyon 2.
Outside the classroom, she enjoys travelling, reading and learning new languages.
