Activities that have worked in my lessons
Speaker: Michaela Čaňková Generally speaking, we use language to communicate. The sessions I have designed will focus on various ways of promoting communication in English. From my Czech perspective it seems that this is the skill my students tend to struggle with. That´s why I have brought a wide range of new, practical activities on different topics suitable for teaching teenagers and young adults. You will try out fresh ideas in methodology through interactive communication. Apart from language based activities developing vocabulary and language itself, you will also venture into the field of culture tackling the current issues of the U.K. life and politics. You will leave the event with lots of practical ideasand a set of ready-to-use materials!
Speaker’s profile: After a long period of teaching students, Míša Čaňková has recently been giving seminars to teachers, as well as lecturing at international conferences. She specializes in methodology of teaching literature and culture,
mostly on a secondary level. Her main interest lies in organising and teaching Irish studies at summer courses. Míša has written a number of textbooks dealing mainly with 20th century British and American literature and culture and intercultural topics that were published both in the Czech Republic and abroad. She has also been teaching teachers of English in Poland, Great Britain, Austria and Slovakia. The workshop is free for IATEFL members.
