SILVER JUBILEE FOR ELTAM MK
SILVER JUBILEE FOR ELTAM MK
Visiting new countries, discovering new places, making new friends, and sharing best practices is always exciting. I had the pleasure to represent IATEFL Poland with a plenary and talk at the 13th ELTAM MK International Biannual Conference entitled “New Challenges, New Perspectives”. Held in Skopje, North Macedonia on the 25th and 26th of October at the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle for Independence was an amazing experience and one that I recommend not missing. The two-day event was filled with talks from such notables as Fiona Mauchline, Marjorie Rosenberg, John Hird, and Sanja Conjagic, as well as speakers from all over North Macedonia and associates from Croatia, Serbia, Albania, and Turkey.
Of course, AI was a major theme with talks ranging from usage, the future, both positive and the other side of the coin, yet there were many other talks that were extremely practical with takeaways for primary to secondary to adult teaching. The museum and the surrounding area of Skopje made a wonderful backdrop for the weekend and with the beautiful weather allowing us to lunch outside was a delightful break. Skopje has more statues than I have ever seen before in one place. Wroclaw better start making more dwarves!
On Friday night, a special dinner was held for the sponsors, associates, and plenary speakers at a local restaurant with amazing food and a live three-piece group which got the house dancing well into the wee hours. The people of North Macedonia were amazingly friendly and helpful, and the delegates were a pleasure to interact with and learn from. Congratulations to ELTAM MK on their 25th year and thanks for having me to be a part of it.
