What goes around comes around: A new(?) hybrid reality in the tertiary FL classroom – a webinar by dr Piotr Steinbrich
Dear Colleagues,
IATEFL Poland and dr Piotr Steinbrich, a lecturer and a teacher trainer at John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin
have the pleasure to invite you to the webinar
“What goes around comes around: A new(?) hybrid reality in the tertiary FL classroom“
Summary:
The last two years (or so) have witnessed a revolution in teaching English on an unprecedented scale. Confronted with a new reality, teachers were forced to reinvent a whole palette of methods, techniques and activities that would conform to a new online environment at the same time retaining the goals that had been set earlier. Surprisingly enough, all that with minimum or no guidance or support.
The main focus of this webinar is an attempt to revisit the techniques and methods that have proven useful and pedagogically viable in Covid-19-oriented teaching (pun intended). I will demonstrate various activities that other teachers and myself have successfully implemented in a tertiary FL setting to either complement the existing syllabus or use and adapt course book content. I will use Voices as an example. I will also argue that some of the ways of going about things in the tertiary online classroom can easily be adapted in an environment in which no social distance is required and masks are no longer an obstacle to efficient and effective communication.
