for two workshops with SUSAN HOLDEN:
1/ USING PROJECTS TO BUILD PERSONAL, ORGANISATIONAL AND PRESENTATION SKILLS
Projects can enrich language learning while increasing the students’ cultural and crosscultural awareness. They can build on individual interests and experiences, while providing opportunities for group organisation and presentation skills. However, they need careful planning and integration into the overall teaching and learning objectives.
This interactive session aims to discuss ways of identifying and using projects within the context of the participants’ individual teaching situations.
2/ TEACHING ENGLISH IN A GLOBAL WORLD: THE CULTURE AND LANGUAGE INTERFACE
The use of English as a global language for communication implies a need for an increasing awareness of cultural and crosscultural differences. What causes misunderstanding and incomprehension: language or culture? How important are body language and gesture? How can the style of written language be misinterpreted?
This interactive session discusses practical ways of exploring the link between language and personal behaviour in different contexts.
Susan Holden has a long and varied experience as a teacher, trainer, magazineeditor, publisher and writer in a variety of contexts. She first visited Poland in 1991, later working on a textbook project there as well as returning recently for various conferences. Among other things, she is co-author of ‘Teaching English Today: contexts and objectives’, Swan Communication 2019.
The workshop is free for IATEFL members. Non-IATEFL members: 40 PLN Student fee: 20 PLN

Refreshments will be provided during a 30-minute break.
The event is scheduled to last until approx. 1.30 p.m.
