Internationalization at Home. Communication strategies used during cross-cultural collaboration

Virtual exchange projects involve students of varying language levels and diverse cultural and educational backgrounds. Students must cope with numerous hurdles to reach the project goals. In this presentation, we will showcase the communication strategies used by the Polish and Mexican engineering students who participated in an intercultural & interuniversity virtual exchange project implemented in 2021.


Francisco Alberto Núñez Tapia is a full-time professor researcher at the College of Social Sciences & Humanities and teaches three sociocultural courses in English to undergraduates of the Industrial Engineering Global Program at CETYS University in Mexicali, Mexico. He co-coordinates virtual exchange projects for Mexican and Polish engineering students. He is a published author in Mexico and the United States.

Anna Kwaśniewska is a lecturer of English as a Foreign Language. She teaches General English and English for Specific Purposes at Adam Mickiewicz University Nadnotecki Institute in Piła. She co-coordinates virtual exchange projects for Polish and Mexican engineering students. She is an active member of Translators without Borders and has translated over a dozen books on business, marketing, and psychology.
