Guest Speaker from MITESOL – Meet Julie Dean at the 35th International IATEFL Poland Conference!

We are absolutely thrilled to announce a wonderful highlight of our upcoming 35th International IATEFL Poland Conference in Warsaw (September 18–20, 2026)!

Following a rigorous blind review process by our partner organisation, MITESOL (Michigan Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages), Julie Dean has been selected to represent them as a featured speaker in Warsaw.

Julie is an active and highly esteemed MITESOL member who has just completed a prestigious turn as a U.S. State Department English Language Fellow in Laos (2024–2026). Bringing together a unique background in international marketing and deep academic expertise, her session promises to be an absolute powerhouse of practical inspiration.

TITLE: Building Speaking Confidence Through Non-Verbal Communication

Abstract: Many English Language Learners (ELLs) possess the vocabulary to communicate effectively but completely freeze due to speaking anxiety. This active, hands-on workshop reveals how non-verbal communication practice can bridge this gap. Drawing on her extensive experience training healthcare professionals in Laos, Julie will demonstrate high-impact, low-prep activities focusing on body language, dramatic posture, and vocal intonation. By training physical presence first, you will learn how to rekindle your students’ desire to communicate and build the fierce confidence they need to command professional settings.
