The A-Z framework will closely scrutinise and emphasise the key characteristics behind the usage of quizzes.
Quizzes can be long, short, integrative, fast, or slow: I will try to cover/present such types in the webinar, and set you on the road to being a ‘maestro quiz presenter!’

A teacher of Drama and Communications in England, and a College Press Officer for 5 years, Peter brought these related skills to Poland in 1994, a year before he joined IATEFL Poland, and is now well-known as the Association’s Editor of their Post-Conference Journals and monthly E-Bulletins, being in that post for several years. Having acquired both a Certificate in Arts of the Theatre and a Master’s Degree in English Language Teaching from Sheffield University, Peter previously obtained his BA from Wolverhampton University, and followed that with a Post-Graduate course in Teaching. An author, teacher-trainer, and proof-reader/writer, he has taught Methodology, Speaking Skills, and Cultural Studies, as well as Business English, in teacher-training establishments, private schools, and a university, within Poland. However, aware of the value of diversity, in 2007, he took a 9-year break from teaching, working for an energy company in Warsaw, promoting Poland’s energy issues at the EU, where he reverted to his writing and proof-reading skills.
Peter has hosted countless quizzes, panel discussions, and debates, in Poland, including ‘The Weakest Link’, ‘IATEFLADA’, The Great Language Quiz, ‘Kocham Się, (I love you) IATEFL’, ‘Mega Kahoots’, and ‘Shakespeareada’. Since IATEFL Poland’s Gdańsk Conference in 1995, he also became recognised for his humour workshops, long before Geoff Tranter came along with his own distinct brand. Formerly, IATEFL’s International Liaison Officer, Peter was a guest presenter in Paris, in 2018, where he provided a successful and popular workshop about the value and uses of quizzes. This session will provide the basis for this forthcoming webinar and provide many ideas that can be practically applied in the classroom, or remotely, whilst containing a fair degree of fun and humour, too. We shall also look beyond the entertainment aspect, with some analysis of the functioning and skills behind quizzes.
