Summary:
Based on the experience he has gained from ten years of teaching at C2 level, Geoff will discuss the specific features of C2 proficiency that teachers need to focus on in order to enable students to achieve “Mastery” of the language covering questions such as: “Does C2 mean native-speaker competence? “Is it just a question of accuracy?” “What is C2 vocabulary?”. or even “Who needs C2 proficiency?” He will be looking at suitable topics, appropriate methods, and tasks, and offer a blueprint for teachers who might want to take up the challenge of teaching at this level. And there might well be ideas that could be impemented at lower leves. Come along and find out!
During the webinar all participants will be provided with a certificate of participation, which they will be able to download.

Geoff Tranter
Freelance consultant in the field of Language Training, Language Testing and Teacher-training
Geoff has many years of teaching experience in various sectors of education. He regularly offers teacher-training workshops on methodology, and frequently contributes to IATEFL Poland’s webinar programme. He acts as Coordinator for the IATEFL Poland Business English SIG and advises the Executive Board on matters of international cooperation. His special interest is humour, as will become evident in this talk.
He has been teaching at C2 proficiency level for many years at Dortmund Technical University. He has wide experience of teaching and test design at C1/C2 levels and has offered numerous workshops for teachers in higher, further and adult education at many international conferences, especially in Poland.
