Dear Colleagues,

IATEFL Poland and Tamari Dolidze, Associate Professsor of BSMA/PI

have the pleasure to invite you to the webinar

Raising Media Literacy in ESP Classroom with Authentic Materials

Brief summary:

We live in the Digitalized World, which requires us to be regularly updated as Educators and updating our Learners. When Teaching English for Specific Proposes, we to large extend depend on coursebook which naturally cannot be current and consequently fail to raise students’ media literacy skills together with teaching ESP. Therefore, Authentic materials – Written or Oral can contribute to raising students’ media literacy apart from increasing their self-esteem as they find out that you can read something designed produced and published for a native speaker, and the development of the strategies to deal with ‘real’ texts enables EFL learners to read more confidently and extensively outside the classroom. Hence, presented talk will highlight the importance, challenges and best practices of Integrating Authentic materials in ESP classroom with the purpose of raising learners’ media literacy and in general contributing to SLA with maximal approximation to authentic environment.
