IATEFL POLAND’s LIVE LESSON online April 6th

Dear Colleagues,We would like to invite you to join us

on Saturday April 6th, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. for another IATEFL POLAND’s LIVE LESSON online with URSZULA MAJDAŃSKA-WACHOWICZ and her lovely team of students: “Looking so long at the pictures of ME” – last-minute fun activities for the “MATURA” speaking part

Picture description is a part of many English Proficiency Tests, including “egzamin maturalny z języka angielskiego.” In this online live lesson, I will demonstrate how to revise picture description in an engaging and personalised way. The pictures will take us back to the past, leading to the present and, hopefully, directing us to the future. How to describe a photo will be a pretext to design a lesson on boosting students’ self-esteem and reinforcing their sense of achievement.

The lesson may be helpful for secondary school teachers, university teachers and other educators interested in the topic.

Urszula Majdańska-Wachowicz has a PhD in Linguistics, an MA in English, an MA in Polish and Journalism. A researcher, an English teacher and a teacher-trainer, Ula works at the Institute of Modern Languages at Zielona Gora University, and at I Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Bolesława Krzywoustego w Głogowie. She has been a speaker at IATEFL Poland international conferences since 2016. In 2021, she ran IATEFL Poland’s 1st live lesson online. Ula represented IATEFL Poland at the ETAI Summer Conference in Israel  (2022) and at the 45th TESOL Greece Convention (2024). Ula has presented 45 times at linguistic congresses and TEFL conventions in Poland and abroad. Her publications include 1 book, 29 linguistic and TEFL papers. If you want to learn about Ula’s research, visit her ORCID: 0000-0002-3004-082 or ResearchGate.

  • All the participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
  • The event is scheduled to last until approx. 11 a.m. (the lesson will be followed by a short Q&A session)
